The Gooseberries 2011

The 4th Annual Gooseberries were held in Dublin last night!

Yes, all the Irish celebs have been moaning about the lack of The Meteor Awards in 2011, but fear not, The Gooseberries are here!

So what's it all about? Well the Goosberries are an Irish copy of  Hollywood's The Raspberry Awards, so yes it's the awards show that presents awards to the worst of the worst in Irish Media!

People voted for the worst in Irish music and media in 2010 as voted for by the public on www.thegooseberries.com.

The lovely Miss UN Europe, Samantha Long, attended the event, and presented the award for worst Irish Single 2010! She looked gorgeous on the night with another dress from The Ivory Closet Limerick, what would us girls do without them?

Sami said the night went great:
"I had a fantastic night. The whole awards are based on having a laugh and I certainly did!"

Although the awards were really just for a laugh Sami said only one nominee showed up from RTE's Fade Street:
"CiCi Cavanagh was good enough to come along and collect the award Fade Street won for Worst Irish TV Programme of 2010. Unfortunately she was the only nominee to come from the "Worst" section"

You might think that some Irish celebs will have some bruised ego's after last night but Director of the Gooseberries, Barbara McCarthy says the awards aren't taken too seriously:
‘This ceremony is unique in that it allows the members of the Irish media to self deprecate. It is very light-hearted and in the past nominees have been more than happy to accept their awards on the night."

Hosted by Clint Velour (aka Paddy Cullivan) front man of the Camembert Quartet, the official Late Late show band, the much anticipated awards ceremony took place in the Sugar Club last night.
