Well this was definitely a great choice, but a crazy one at the time!
In an upcoming interview with Oprah Adam Sandler, who has always worked on Saturday Night Live, revealed that Jennifer Aniston turned down a job there for Friends.
Adam, who co-stars with Jen in the upcoming flick Just Go With It, said Jen came in for an interview years ago and he thought she would be great, but she turned the role down:
“We wanted Aniston to be on the show with us. And she, I remember being on the ninth floor where [executive producer] Lorne Michael’s office was and seeing Jen come in. I was like, ‘Oh my God, there’s Aniston. Is she about to be on our show?' Her going in, having a talk, leaving. I was like, ‘Wow! I’m gonna be working with Aniston?’”
Adam soon found out that the actress had turned down the job on one of the biggest comedy shows in the US and the actor admits he thought she was stupid:
"[I remember thinking], ‘She said no?’ She’s gonna do that ‘Friends’? What the hell is ‘Friends’? That was the truth."
Jen admitted to Oprah that everyone in the company thought it was a stupid decision to turn down such an amazing opportunity but obviously Friends was life changing:
“They were like, ‘You’re so stupid,’Yeah, you know, I had this show ‘Friends’ coming up and I thought, ‘Yeah, ‘Saturday Night Live’?” (Jen said, holding her hands like a double-tiered scale) “But they thought I was making a huge mistake.”
You defo made the right decision their Jen! What would Friends have been like without her??? I can't even dare to think about it!
