Savvy Shopaholic - Festival Fashion - Oxegen 2011

With Oxegen opening it's gates today I set out to find not one, but a few Bargains in this week's Savvy Shopaholic segment!

The perfect place to find your festival fashion fix without emptying your pocket is Penneys (of course). I headed there yesterday to get my Oxegen bag of goodies and I found some amazing buys.

First of all if you are looking for Wellies and don't want to splash out, Penneys are selling cute ones for just €11 and then bigger, thicker pink or black ones for €15.

Next up I bought some shorts, this is a DEFINITE for any Oxegen fashionista. I bought a pair of illuminous shorts with frayed ends for just €11 and will pair them with a baggy black top (rock style of course), black leggins and the €11 wellies I bought in the store.

I also snapped up a gorgeous pair of black and red knee high socks, I will be wearing the thick socks plus leggins, to make sure I keep my feet warm in the mud and rain.

As you can see in the pic above I also got white sunglasses for €1.50 and a gorgeous red and white stripped one piece for €6. Seriously, could I have found any better bargains??

As well as fashion, hair and make-up is really important this weekend, especially if you are camping. With rainfall a definite this weekend Dry Shampoo is absolutely essential!! You can buy a single can for €1.90 in Penneys, which is the cheapest out there.

As well as that, I didn't want to bring my Benefit stick foundation to the festival (could get broken or lose) so I got an amazing mousse foundation from Penneys yesterday. Only €3.99. Called 'Essence - Soft Touch Mousse'. Perfect to get me through this weekend, and the coverage is suprisingly really good.

If you are willing to splash out on maybe an €80 pair of Hunter wellies, which are loved by celebs such as Kate Moss, Pixie Lott, Drew Barrymore and even Beyonce. Then you can get them at Asos.com.

At Glastonbury Laura Whitmore wore a pair from their newest range, the fire-red wellies looked amazing on her, so we can expect to see her back in Hunters this weekend.

At the end of the day, there's no point in spending too much money, we are still in a recession! Hunter wellies will last you a long time, but if you only want to wear these wellies this weekend I would go for the Penneys range.

At a more mid priced range Arnotts have a new line of Dav wellies which are the favourites of Irish celebs such as newlywed Pippa O'Connor, Lisa Cannon and Michelle McGrath. Their range is about €69 and the wellies come with little lace bows on the back (cute touch).

Rebekah Brooks Releases Statement About News Of The World Scandal

Amid demands from the public to resign, former Editor of the News of The World Rebekah Brooks has refused to give up her position.

Instead she is rubbing salt in the wound by releasing this statement saying that she had no idea that the private investigator she was using was illegally hacking into victims phones in massive kidnapping cases.

Dear All

When I wrote to you last week updating you on a number of business issues I did not anticipate having to do so again so soon.

However, I wanted to address the company as a matter of urgency in light of the new claims against the News of the World.

We were all appalled and shocked when we heard about these allegations yesterday.

I have to tell you that I am sickened that these events are alleged to have happened.

Not just because I was Editor of the News of the World at the time, but if the accusations are true, the devastating effect on Milly Dowler's family is unforgivable.

Our first priority must be to establish the full facts behind these claims. I have written to Mr and Mrs Dowler this morning to assure them News International will vigorously pursue the truth and that they will be the first to be informed of the outcome of our investigation.

Our lawyers have also written to their solicitor Mark Lewis to ask him to show us any of the evidence he has so we can swiftly take the appropriate action.

At the moment we only know what we have read.

Since 2006, when the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) seized the documentation from the private investigator Glenn Mulcaire, News International has had no visibility on the evidence available.

The process of discovery is complicated. The MPS first present relevant documents to potential victims. We only see the evidence much later during the legal process.

This morning, in our regular Operation Weeting meeting, we have offered the MPS our full co-operation to establish the veracity of these fresh allegations.

I have also written to the Chief Constable of Surrey police. Although their nine-year investigation is now complete, I want to offer our co-operation should they intend to discuss this matter with us.

I am determined that News International does everything it can to co-operate fully and pro-actively with the MPS, as we have been doing for some time, to verify the facts so we can respond in a robust and proper way.

It is almost too horrific to believe that a professional journalist or even a freelance inquiry agent working on behalf of a member of the News of the World staff could behave in this way.

If the allegations are proved to be true then I can promise the strongest possible action will be taken as this company will not tolerate such disgraceful behaviour.

I hope that you all realise it is inconceivable that I knew or worse, sanctioned these appalling allegations.

I am proud of the many successful newspaper campaigns at The Sun and the News of the World under my editorship.

In particular, the ten-year fight for Sarah's Law is especially personal to me.

The battle for better protection of children from paedophiles and better rights for the families and the victims of these crimes defined my editorships.

Although these difficult times will continue for many months ahead, I want you to know that News International will pursue the facts with vigour and integrity.

I am aware of the speculation about my position. Therefore it is important you all know that as Chief Executive, I am determined to lead the company to ensure we do the right thing and resolve these serious issues.

We will face up to the mistakes and wrongdoing of the past and we will do our utmost to see that justice is done and those culpable will be punished.

Jennifer Aniston Taking A Year Break From Acting!

This is a well over due break in fairness.

America's sweetheart Jennifer Aniston is said to be taking a 12-month break from acting, as she plans on focusing on her directing career and her new relationship with Justin Theroux.

The 42-year-old actress is currently promoting Horrible Bosses and has two more movies coming out this year. But once she is finished travelling the world to promote her upcoming films, Jen will be laying low for a while.
An insider revealed that Jen is really looking forward to some time off:  "Jen's taking a year off from work to enjoy herself."

A second source confirmed that after Horrible Bosses and the October release of Wanderlust, the only thing on her schedule is developing The Goree Girls. The movie is her production company's project about singers in a women's prison.

And apparently Jen wants new boyfriend Justin (39) to help out on the set of the new movie. Insiders say she is keen for the Tropic Thunder and Iron Man 2 screenwriter to collaborate on the script with her.

A friend of the star said: "She's impressed by his ability to find humour in dry material."

Although Justin didn't appear on the red carpet at last Thursday's Horrible Bosses premiere in LA, he did sneak into to the after party and was spotted enjoying drinks with his gorgeous girlfriend.

The couple then headed to the Chateau Marmont to meet friends, including her best friend Courteney Cox.

Paris Hilton Dating 'Hangover' Director Todd Phillips

I can't believe my eyes!

I am truly shocked!

Just two weeks after breaking up with boyfriend of one year Cy Waits, Paris Hilton has been snapped snogging Hangover director Todd Phillips!

In a shocking move reality star Paris (30) and Todd (40) have fallen fast and hard for each other and they're not afraid to show it.

At a private party on a boat in Miami the pair kissed and hugged all night. Sources said the couple were getting very intimate:

"Paris and Todd were all over each other. He had his hand permanently glued to her behind. They were making out constantly."

And the fun didn't end there! The new couple partied all night at a Malibu beach house along with fellow guests Bradley Cooper, Lukas Haas, Kevin Connolly, Gerard Butler and Jeremy Piven. What an A-list bunch of friends!


I just can't imagine Bradley, Kevin, Gerard, Lukas, Jeremy or even TODD could take her seriously. Could this romance just be a publicity stunt, or is Todd a little bit of a player?

Is the movie dead in the water now?

In the midst of bad reviews of the newest installment of the Transformers fracnchise: Dark Of The Moon, it's main star Shia LaBeouf’s says he won't be fighting off Decepticons anymore.

The 25-year-old actor who shot to fame after starring in the original Michael Bay action flick, has said that he won't be doing anymore of the Transformers movies, but admitted they will probably make them anyway:

"I’m done. I’m sure they will make more of them. It’s still a very hot franchise. I love making them. I love the crew. I love Michael. I love the cast. I love )my character) Sam but I don’t have anything new to contribute and I don’t think there’s anywhere to take him.”

The new slum reviews for the new flick could be down to the fact that Shia's love interest from the firs two movies, Megan Fox, was replaced by British Victoria Secret's Model, Rosie Huntington Whiteley. Shia himself only recently admitted to getting it on with Megan on set, is that why he's quitting?

Ashley Cole To Launch New London Restaurant With Jay-Z

It all makes sense now!

Sources had revealed that Ashley Cole was in a serious business meeting with Jay-Z in New York, before rushing home to wish his ex wife Cheryl Cole a happy birthday, and now we know why!

Today the Chelsea footballer announced that he and Beyone's hubby will open a restaurant in London in the next year.

Cole will also aim to help long-time unemployed people (yes he is trying very hard to be nice). Similiar to Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Foundation, Ashley says he wants to help train young adults with disadvantaged backgrounds in the restaurant business.

Ashley said he is looking forward to his new venture with the top US rapper:

"It is really exciting to be working with a star like Jay-Z. And the fact we can help unemployed people by training them up and putting them to work at a top place while also helping charities makes it a great project."

Earlier on today Ashley told press that he thinks people are too quick to judge him, but admitted seeing his mother react to stories about him in the paper is difficult:

"What parent wouldn't feel upset with things like that? I can understand it, I've made mistakes. I've just got to live with it."
