Seriously Social - Miss UN Europe's Homecoming Party!

Hey guys,

This time on Seriously Social! I attended Miss United Nations Europe Samantha Long's official Homecoming party!

You might remember that she was my first ever Star Of The Month, and I was proud to watch the former blushing pageant princess blossom into a beauty queen!

Samantha dazzled on the night wearing a Rachel Gilbert dress, from the one and only The Ivory Closet Limerick.

Samantha and the deputy Mayor

The stylish event was held at Limerick's Pier One Hotel and many friends and family gathered to officially welcome Miss UN Europe to the new year and her new title. Coming to congratulate Samantha, the Deputy Mayor of Limerick presented her with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. Samantha said she was so glad to finally have her homecoming party:

"It's amazing to finally have my homecoming. Obviously it was delayed because of the snow. But it's a good time, it represents a fresh start to the new year and I have 11 months now to finish out my role and make my mark as Miss UN Europe."

So what's 2011 going to be filled with for Samantha? As well as visiting Canada to meet with some of the contestants she met in Jamaica, she's also lending her hand to the media world!  She is still continuing to judge models in the selection process for the new Irish Real Models competition. Also her new fashion column which is to feature in Limerick's new teen magazine Teen Life should be distributed soon. So her name will definitely be in the media for a long time to come!

The UCC law student also wrote a piece on her favorite restaurant for the Sunday World, and also featured on The Morning Show: With Sybil and Martin on TV3. I asked her what was her first taste of television like:
"I was so nervous. It was during all the bad weather, so I had to take a taxi in the snow! It took me an hour and a half to get there and a 50.00 euro taxi, it should have only taken 10 minutes. Sybil and Martin were so nice to me, they made me feel really welcome."

So let's get to the important part of the night, the fashion! Samantha looked absolutely stunning in her Rachel Gilbert dress, with a plunging neckline and sequence design, she dazzled in front of her guests.
"I tried on so many dresses. But I wanted something to make me stand out, I wanted to go really glam tonight! And when I saw this dress I just fell in love with it".

Samantha sported a gorgeous flower styled ring, also from The Ivory Closet Limerick, and both her bracelet and crown was made by jewellery designer Carol Shaw. She also wore a stunning pair of earrings, that believe it or not, were from River Island! "They're actually from four years ago" Samantha confessed. She clearly had an eye for style even back then. Miss UN Europe also wore gorgeous high stilettos from Office, with a glitter heel and a skin toned colour, they went fabulously with the whole outfit! And the clutch she had was from Debenhams.

Samantha's make-up was flawless on the night! With a midnight blue eyeshadow, natural foundation and a nude lip, she looked like a real star! She told me the make-up artist that did her look was Claire Kelly (the same make-up artist from the Star Of The Month interview). Halo Limerick also did a fab job on her hair, creating a soft curl throughout her strawberry blonde locks. The whole look together suited Samantha down to the ground, and was the perfect style for the glamorous night Miss UN Europe had in store!

Samantha's still working away with her favorite charity Aware. Although no representatives could be there on the night, Samantha had a collection going throughout the night to help the association that deals with depression in Ireland. She's practically become the face for the organization at this point, and went to the launch of  Depression Awareness Week Nationwide (DAWN) this morning, which marked the introduction of Aware's new Online Support Groups.

Samantha's got 11 months left in her reign as Miss UN Europe and she definitely wants to be remembered for all the difference she has made, not only for the competition itself, but for the charities she has supported.  So what does next years winner have to do? Samantha says:
"To try to live up to me I guess, they need to improve on what I've done. The next winner of Miss UN Ireland and Miss UN Europe needs to work really hard".

So there you have it! It was a great night had by all, filled with style and glamour!
Until next time,

Miss Red

xx
