Nick Lachey Says He Had A "Carefully Calculated Plan" For Proposal!

For the first time Jessica Simpson's ex Nick Lachey,has spoken about his proposal to Vanessa Minnillo.

The pair got engaged back in November, only a week before ex Jessica was proposed to by Eric Johnson! When asked about getting down on one knee, Nick says he had a plan:

"You gotta take it in stages. If you set the bar too high then you set yourself up for failure.This was a carefully calculated plan. You have to set the romance but you have to take it in phases. This was phase one."

The 37-year-old presenter says he got down on "both knees" to present 30-year-old Vanessa, with a $125,000 Asscher cut diamond ring!  He says he was in the: "full begging position."


But Nick admits that they pair won't be tying the knot anytime soon! Vanessa has been a busy-bee, with guest roles on Hawaii Five-O, CSI: New York, Psych and 30 Rock so she hasn't even found time to look at wedding dresses! But Nick says they're not in a rush to get down the aisle:

"We're enjoying being engaged. Everyone rushes to the next step, and I like this step."

I think it's safe to say Nick and Jessica have moved on for good!

Jessica Simpson Says Her Boyfriend Brings Out The Best In Her

Jessica Simpson is telling us again how amazing her boyfriend is!

Jessica seems to love flaunting her new love Eric Johnson around, and now she's saying he brings out the best in her and marriage will be down the line.

Speaking to USA Today, she said:

"He definitely makes me very happy.He brings out a lot of light in me and makes me very comfortable being who I am. It's nice to be with somebody who praises you for the right reasons..."I am from the south so I've definitely dreamed of being married my whole life and having children, so hopefully that's in my future."

And although the elder Simpson has been in the spotlight for weight issues over the last year, which really knocked her confidence, she claims that turning 30 has changed her outlook on life:
She said:

"I love being 30. The moment I turned 30, I really did feel a switch in my life. I was in Capri and I was with my boyfriend and my family and my friends, and I just felt this coming of age moment, this moment where I really just felt the happiest I've ever been and I love the woman inside of me."
