Nick Lachey Says He Had A "Carefully Calculated Plan" For Proposal!

For the first time Jessica Simpson's ex Nick Lachey,has spoken about his proposal to Vanessa Minnillo.

The pair got engaged back in November, only a week before ex Jessica was proposed to by Eric Johnson! When asked about getting down on one knee, Nick says he had a plan:

"You gotta take it in stages. If you set the bar too high then you set yourself up for failure.This was a carefully calculated plan. You have to set the romance but you have to take it in phases. This was phase one."

The 37-year-old presenter says he got down on "both knees" to present 30-year-old Vanessa, with a $125,000 Asscher cut diamond ring!  He says he was in the: "full begging position."


But Nick admits that they pair won't be tying the knot anytime soon! Vanessa has been a busy-bee, with guest roles on Hawaii Five-O, CSI: New York, Psych and 30 Rock so she hasn't even found time to look at wedding dresses! But Nick says they're not in a rush to get down the aisle:

"We're enjoying being engaged. Everyone rushes to the next step, and I like this step."

I think it's safe to say Nick and Jessica have moved on for good!
