The Beauty Diary: Hotloxs Balayage Hair Extensions

Hey guys and gals,

This has to be my favourite Beauty Diary to date because this is the hair style I have been aiming to get for soooo long. And it's all thanks to the amazing Hotloxs Hair!

The top Irish hair extensions company have finally set up a studio just off O'Connel Street (above the Tourist Information Centre) and I got to go in for my first balayage installment in the luxurious studio.

When you walk in the door you are graced with top class pictures of Emma Waldron, Georgia Salpa, Karena Graham and Nadia Forde, so you know straight away that you are in good hands.

The company, who style Ireland's top celebs have given me the best extensions I have ever had in the last year, and the best thing is my hair is continuing to grow all the time, I have no hair loss and my natural hair is still thick and glossy.
Before (In the Hotloxs studio)

After
So let's talk about balayage hair extensions. I have been a massive fan of the celeb trend in recent months and I wanted to go for a quite drastic look. So I moved away from my normal blonde hair and went for a dark brown with light blonde at the ends.

You can get all different types of balayage. More dark hair than light, more light coloured hair than dark or you can do half and half.

So here is how mine turned out. As usual the volume and soft texture of the extensions are second to none with Hotloxs. And the most important thing you have to know is that it only takes them just over 1 hour to install your hair extensions.

I dyed my hair dark mocha brown colour and kept the blonde tips!
Other stylists can take up to five or six  hours to do your hair, which is hugely time consuming and annoying but this will never happen with Hotloxs. They have the best quality in town, they are amazing value and you only need to take an hour out of your day.

The other thing I love about hotloxs is that they have a colour technician who can match your colour perfectly to the extensions. And if you want to change your colour once you have them in it's so easy to dye them.

Hotloxs did this balayage look on model Anouska

I've been to so many stylists who have been afraid to dye my hair because they are used to extensions being fake, but because Hotloxs' hair is 100% real there is no problems and the colours blend beautifully.

I am loving my new look and I have even smaller pre-bonds in than last time so my extensions are completely invisible, I can wear my hair up, down, curl them, straighten them, it's like having real long hair, so easy to up keep!
As you can see my hair is so thick and glossy!

So if you are looking for the celebrity look without the hefty price tag then Hotloxs Hair is the place to go. You will be out of there in over an hour and will have a brand new look, new confidence and glossy new hair that lasts up to four months!

So why not join the new trend? Models Vogue Williams, Hazel O'Sullivan and Georgia Salpa have all jumped on board so give Hotloxs a buzz and mention Miss Red Blog :)

Lots of love,

Miss Red

The Beauty Diary: Hotloxs Saved The Day

This week was such a crazy week for me. You will all know that I am obsessed with my hair and I had a massive hair disaster last weekend, but thank GOD for Hotloxs Hair Extensions they have saved the day once again!

Ok so last weekend I headed back to Limerick for the weekend to spend some time with my family and decided to take out my micro-bead extensions (which was extremely easy, only took 5 mins!) to give my hair a much needed cut.

Once I was in the salon I realised my hair colour needed a top up. I had balayage done not so long ago and because of the bright blonde I used to be, my hair was turning light again. The salon I went to said they could do balayage for me, and my oh my were they wrong.

Horror Hair! :(
Yes shock and horror, look at this crazy image of my hair. My roots were practically black and the rest of my hair was left with patches of blonde, it was such a disaster. The the first thing I did? I called Hotloxs Hair Extensions.

As usual they were absolutey amazing to deal with and fitted me in for an appointment straight away. Before I headed in I threw in some dye of my own to try and avert the disaster but there was still tones of blonde and copper all over the ends of my hair and patches throughout the middle (yes it was dreadful).

My hair before Hotloxs helped me out!

As soon as I got into the Hotloxs Studio, which is located above the Dublin Tourist Information offices just off O'Connell Street, the amazing Anna had the hair ready to go. Because I was in so much shock over the colour and the messed up tones, Anna gave me some clip ins that could blend in with the different colours.

I have to say if it wasn't for Hotloxs I don't know what I would do with myself! The tones mixed in with my own hair was perfect. I put in a little bit more of a mocha brown on my natural hair and I am loving the new look.

I love my new hair colour and HOTLOXS!
I have been brown brunette before but I let the colour wash out again. This time I will stick to the new darker look, I really love it.

The next step will be putting in some low-lights and copper high-lights to mix it up a little, but I am keeping the darker look for definite.

If you want to get similiar Clip Ins to mine, then go now to www.hotloxshair.com. If you are unsure what colours to go with then all you have to do is connected with Hotloxs on Facebook and mail them a picture of your hair. Their colour technicians will match your exact tones and send out the clip ins ASAP.

The Beauty Diary: Hotloxs Micro-Beads

Dear Beauty Diary,

As you know by now I am obsessed with hair. Hair extensions, hair styles, hair colouring, hair accessories, anything you could possibly think of.

I think it's so important to make yourself feel good and enjoy your own style, that's why I wear hair extensions. At the start of the summer I decided to stop wearing flip ins and clip ins, and instead went for the permanent option.

In my first Hair and Beauty review I tried out Hotloxs Pre-bonded Hair Extensions and I fell in love. The volume, length and colour was all perfectly selected by the top colourist and extension guru Anna from Hotloxs.

From Vogue Williams to Emma Waldron, top Irish celebs have fallen fast and hard for Hotloxs. With gorgeous models Lisa Nolan, Sara Kavanagh, Rachel Wallace, Pamela Ryan and Karena Graham all jumping aboard the Hotloxs trend.

This time around I wanted to try something different. With Hotloxs you can get pre-bonded extensions (no glue is applied to your hair, just a heat applicator that is folded around the top of your hair), weaves, clip ins or micro-beads. So I decided to go for the beads.

Now some people will try and scare you off saying that they are more visible and uncomfortable to sleep on but I haven't come across either problem. Obviously will all hair extensions, the thicker your hair is the better, and if you have really thin hair a half head is always better.

Before

So Anna popped over and took out my pre-bonds that I had in for three months. You always here horror stories about peoples extensions not coming out easily, using acetone and having to cut out chunks of your hair. Well Anna didn't have to use one bit of acetone and all my hair extensions were out with in 15 minutes, and my hair had actually grown from the first time I had the extensions put in.

It's always a great sign to see hair growth, other companies that just use bonded extensions (all glue) will often have clients complain of their hair falling out and being left with just shreds of hair.

After

Micro-beading is one of the best options I have to say. First of all the method is ridiculously easy. You and your pals could order the hair of www.holoxshair.com and put them in yourselves. Secondly these extensions can be taken out at anytime, so if you feel like a change or want a break they can easily be slipped out of your hair.

I have to say it feels great known that there is no glue whatsoever in my hair. It's nice to know I could take them out at anytime but of course I don't want to. Once again the quality of the hair is exceptional. Top stylists have been asking me where I get my hair done and most people don't have a clue that I have extensions at all.

This is what the microbeads look like undereath the hair

My advice would be for those who are nervous about getting pre-bonded extensions, but you are sick of clip ins, I suggest getting the micro-beads. There is zero damage to your hair, you will get the feel of the extensions and check out the quality of the hair and then you can move on to a more permanent option.

Vogue Williams has been wearing Hotloxs Micro-beads for the last few months and her hair looks fab. So make sure to contact Hotloxs and their FACEBOOK, TWITTER and of course their WEBSITE.

PS!!

I had the pre-bonded extensions in twice already and I loved it! Check out this video below if you are interested in getting it done, or even interested in learning how to do it yourself!

The Beauty Diary - Balayage

Dear Beauty Diary,

This week my main goal was to achieve the balayage look. The new trend has suddenly swept across the celeb nation with stars such as Jessica Biel, Rachel Bilson, Sarah Jessica Parker and Elle McPherson sporting the natural look.

So what is balayage? Well first of all, Bridget from The Salon IFSC tells me that the technique has actually been around for ages, but the style, which she says is "recession proof" is only just starting to get popular.

Cameron Diaz has recently tried out balayage.

So the main difference between balayage and getting highlights?

1. No roots people!! Yes balayage is designed to give the affect of natural hair tones, the top will always be darker than the bottom, so no need to top up every 6 weeks, you can leave it every 3 months if you want.

2. The colour is 'painted' onto your hair, instead of seperate sections being packed up so that every second strand has the colour.

3.Your hair colour will have much more natural tones as it is supposed to match up to your natural colour.

All the colours are only a slightly different shade to your own colour.

So this is the end result, but I'm going to talk you through each step. Like I said before, the best place in Dublin for balayage is The Salon IFSC. Stylists Danielle and Bridget both have experience in the technique but Bridget as been doing it for longer, so she did my hair this week:

1. Step one, you have to choose what type of Balayage you want. I had bright blonde going in to the salon, but I knew I wanted a dark chocolate brown at the top, falling into caramel/dark blonde at the bottom.

2. Bridget mixed up two different colours. First the chocolate brown for the top of my hair, to create the no root effect, and then the actual balayage mix, which picks up natural tones along your hair.

Getting my balayage on!

3. I was left to relax with a big mug of tea and magazines for about twenty minutes, before Bridget put an all over toner on my hair, from mid-lenght. Remember I wear Hotloxs Hair Extensions, so Bridget made sure to tone them all down.

4. Ta Daaaa, I was finished. Bridget gave me a beautiful curly blow dry with lots of volume and the balayage look was complete.

I have a much darker look all over with painted on lighter tones throughout.

Bridget says that balayage is easiest for brunettes, dyed or natural, because she literally "paints" the colour on with a brush. So if you want light blondes, or deep caramels on a brunette colour it is really easy to accomplish.

I had the toner put in because my hair was so blonde and I really wanted to tone it down, but most of you wont need that at all.

I instantly fell in love with the balayage look. As always The Salon IFSC always produce the colour and style exactly the way I want it.

Also if you are looking to walk on the wild side you can get balayage with red or pink tips, this would work lovely on a dark brunette or someone with black hair. But please God do not follow this horrible look from Kate Bosworth.

Kate went too far with her dip-dye look.

Overall I am so so so happy with the look. Like I said at the beginning of all this, Bridget said the look is "recession proof". I don't need to go back to the Salon IFSC for about 3 months now. In fact the more it grows out, the more natural it will look.

Long term this look is so much cheaper than highlights and looks so more natural. Models all over the world use this technique to give that natural and youthful look, and it genuinely makes your hair look like it has never been touched with dye.

If you have any more questions about the technique, leave a comment below or email me on msmaggiered@gmail.com.

I'll be back next week with another Beauty Diary, testing out a brand new beauty treatment. In the next few weeks I will be checking out the best make-up out there, starting laser hair removal and trying out a new hair extension technique.

Health & Beauty Feature: Hotloxs Hair Extensions!

This week I am reviewing the amazing Hotloxs Hair Extensions!

The Irish based company have already decorated the heads of some of Ireland's favorite celebs including 'Fade Street' gals Louise Johnston (above), Vogue Williams and famous Irish photographer Lili Forberg. Not to mention Ireland's favorite model Georgia Salpa who is about to get Hotloxed!!

The Review

So with this review I said I would take everything into account. I was a very lucky girl and got a home installation of Pre-Bonded Virgin Remy hair. So I am doing a full review on the service received and the product itself.

To start off, all the technicians at Hotloxs Hair are trained to install the hair extensions, cut and style them afterwards and match your colours with multi-toned extensions. Their goal has been to provide women with the best quality hair extensions to give them the same glamorous look that many celebrities sport themselves. The two women are extremely passionate about hair and have gone the extra mile to get the best hair, for the best value, giving you the celeb style without the celeb price tag!!

Vogue Williams wearing Hotloxs clip ins
On meeting Anna she tells me that a company just needs to have extensions with 3% human hair to call them 100%, and that Hotloxs, unlike many hair distributors in Ireland, only supply hair that is 100% human hair and nothing less. Now you might think that she's just saying that to get you to buy the hair, but trust me, once you run your fingers through the Virgin Remy Hair Extensions you will know it is completely real.

So what does 'Virgin Remy Hair' mean? Well basically it means that the hair comes from Asia, and that the hair donor who has sold the hair has never had their hair dyed or damaged before, and hence the 'Virgin' part. Out of all the types of hair you can get, Virgin Remy is the best value and the best quality.

Lousie Johnston wearing pre-bonded Virgin Remy Hair Extensions!

The Installation

Ok, so Anna drives around the country every single day installing their fabulous hair extensions. Currently living in Kilkenny, she drove to Limerick to do my hair and even though she had trouble finding my house (I live in the middle of nowhere) she was extremely happy to be there and got right to it!

First things first, let me explain what I got installed. I chose to go for Pre-Bonded Virgin Remy Hair Extensions (the same service Louise Johnston chose). There is a general misconception about pre-bonded hair. The hair is not glued into the hair like it used to be. The hair actually comes pre-bonded (see below) and already glued. So all Anna will do is use a small heated clamp to heat the piece that is melt and wrap it around your own hair. So there is ABSOLUTELY no damage done to the hair at all. In fact once you take your extensions out at the suggested time (about 4 months), all you need to do is pour a special oil on the hardened part at the top and the bond will simply slide off, leaving your original hair in perfect condition.

Pre-Bonded Hair Extensions

Normally it would take about three hours to install hair extensions, but with Anna's skills and expertise she had my entire head done in one hour! She barely had time for a cup of tea, she just flew through my hair with perfect accuracy and professionalism... I could tell she's been at this for a long time.

So what's included in your installation? Well first of all, before Anna even meets you, you can send her a picture of you hair, one shot at the front, and one at the back. From this she will create the colours needed to match you hair and even custom blends colours to get the right tints and shades you require. She arrived at my house with about 5 different shades of Ash Brown and blonde. Now that might sound like way too much colour but your hair extensions will look so much more realistic when they are full of different tones. She packed as many extensions as she could in, and within the hour my hair was full, thick, long and extremely soft.

To top that all off Anna will also cut your hair to the length you want and to the style of your natural hair. I have to admit, I was really nervous about the cutting because my hair is naturally quite short and is multi-layered. But Anna spent time and accuracy on the cut, and I can tell you that I honestly don't know which parts of my hair are real or fake anymore!!

Verdict

On a scale of 1 to ten, I can hand on my heart say it is a 10!! First of all the hair colour is absolutely perfect! As you can see from my pics I have so many tones in my hair, low-lights, high-lights and toners so I thought it would be impossible to match them all, but Anna found the perfect colours for me.

Secondly the quality of the hair is the best I have ever come across. The hair does not get easily knotted and I've already straightened, curled and washed my hair to make sure that it is durable and it has been perfect! It really looks and feels like human hair and that's because... it is!

The only thing I would say is that the first night will be uncomfortable, as the extensions will be tight. So trying to fall asleep is a bit difficult, but once you wake up the next morning your hair will feel perfectly light again and you can go ahead and try loads of different styles and even dye the hair if you want to add some different tones!
