Remembering 9/11
Hey guys,
Today marks the 9th anniversary of the World Trade Centre attacks. On the morning of September 11th 2001,nearly 3,000 people were killed in the when the World Trade Centre killed when terrorists hijacked two planes and flew them into the twin towers.
There are many theories for what really happened that day. Websites like www.911truth.org believe that it was an 'inside job' and blame George Bush's government for the attack. But the majority of American's believe that Islams did this attack, and the war on terror was the right action to take.
Since the 'War on Terror' more and more thousands of American's have died, so today's event mark a devastating day, and the start of more tragedies.
There will be ceremonies held all over America today and other parts of the world, for the innocent people lost in the attack. Where the Twin Towers once stood, now known as Ground Zero, there will be a memorial held, where the 2,562 names of all the victims who died, including employees and firemen, will be read out will soft music plays to the public.
President Barack Obama is attending a memorial service at the Pentagon, where a third plane crashed back in 2001.
There's huge controversy this year as a pastor from Florida has told the government he will burn the Koran, the sacred book for most Islams who are of Muslim faith. But the pastor, named Terry Jones, seemed to have stopped the plan after President Barack Obama, publicly said it was cause issues for solders in Iraq and would damage their links with the Islam community.
However, today there will be a lot of tension as the world waits to see what Pastor Jones will do. It's sad that this issue is over-shadowing this day that marks alot of sadness for thousands of people around the world.
You can watch the 9/11 ceremonies live HERE on RTE live at 1.35pm.
R.I.P all those lost in this atrocity.
Love,
Miss Red
